Earlier this year, Lenovo and HP announced several AMD 4,000 Pro Mobile business notebooks, and now the platform is finally available.

The Ryzen 4000 Pro Series includes three APU variants: Ryzen 7 4750U (8C/16T, Vega 7 graphics), Ryzen 5 4650U (6C/12T, Vega 6 graphics) and Ryzen 3 4450U (4C/ 8T, Vega 5 graphics).
OEMs can set them between 12.5W and 25W in a variety of applications, so we can expect performance and efficiency equal to the Ryzen 4000 consumer models, as well as a significant increase over the Intel Comet Lake vPro series (for now), which leads the 6C/12t Core i7-10810U series.
They also represent significant progress over the previous Ryzen 3000 Pro Series, as shown in AMD’s marketing materials below.
These Ryzen 4000 Pro processors are based on the same 7 nm Zen2 Renoir architecture as the Ryzen consumer products, but combine some additional AMD Pro technologies:
- Security Pro – AMD works with Microsoft and OEMs to implement a range of security features that protect your sensitive data;
- Pro Manageability is a traditional and cloud-based management support that helps IT departments manage, update and troubleshoot laptop problems;
- Pro Business Ready – hardware and software support for up to 24 months, plus enterprise-level quality control.
What does all this mean for us regular customers?
Overall, AMD’s hardware will be used in better laptops this year, which is good news given the good work AMD has done with this generation of hardware.
Yet they do not reach the highest level of design, such as the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, ExpertBook B9 or Latitude 14. So far.
Anyway, before we get the list of Ryzen 4000 Pro laptops available in 2020, here’s a datasheet of these APUs and a quick comparison with Intel’s Comet Lake Core i7-10810U, Team Blue’s current best alternative.

We are not talking about benchmarks and performance in this article, but I will just mention that AMD claims that its platform will be on par with Intel in terms of single-core performance and will be about 1.5 to 2 times more powerful in multi-threaded workloads. From what we know so far about the implementation of Ryzen 7 4800U/4700U for consumers, this is probably not exaggerated.
Most OEMs will continue to offer both Intel and AMD configurations for their products, so we will see in due course how the two manufacturers compare in a similar package.
For now, this article is a full compilation of all currently announced Ryzen 4000 Pro ultraportables. Like most of our lists, this one is a work in progress and some of the information is based on rumors and early leaks.
