The story revolves around a teenage girl named Buffy Summers who discovers she’s a Slayer – a young girl destined to fight the evil forces that spit out the aptly named Hellmouth in the city of Sunnydale.
While many fans will agree that the series should have ended at the end of Season 5, ironically, Season 6 contains one of the best episodes of the television series – a musical no less – that captures the humour, the sadness and the beautiful narrative work that the series is synonymous with.

Opening of witches
Similarity – Drama and Fantasy
Discovering witches is a well-written drama with beautiful images. Not to mention the fact that the characters are interesting and sympathetic.
The basic hypothesis revolves around a world in which witches, vampires and demons live unnoticed among humans. Our protagonist is Diana Bishop, who turns out to be the last living witch. What follows is a fascinating mix of romance, fantasy and drama in 8 exciting episodes.
Now that the series has already been renewed for a second season, there are more to come.
Lock and key
Probability – Dark mystery and supernatural elements
Locke & Key, based on the eponymous graphic novels, combines elements of light horror with a healthy dose of mystery. If you put all this on the shoulders of our three protagonists children, you would think that this series is for children. I’m sure that’s not the case.
The story itself revolves around three brothers and sisters, Bode, Kenzie and Tyler, who return to their parental home, Key House. In addition to the haunting memories of her father’s murder (which took place within these four walls), there are many magical clues hidden around the house that may hold the key to the secrets hidden there.
Although the show sometimes lags a bit behind, it does a good job during the ten-episode season. As the second season has not yet been proven, it remains to be seen whether she will come back for a sequel.

Strange things
Similarity – Horror and Mystery
A little gem on Netflix, Stranger Things is undoubtedly one of the greatest originals on the platform. It is also probably the only vault that could be painted in the near future.
The story revolves around a group of teenagers who find themselves in a world of intoxicating supernatural nightmares when a boy named Will disappears.
With few other clues than a strange girl named Elf who presents herself with telekinetic powers, it is up to a motley company of outsiders to face evil before it is too late.
With some intriguing ideas about parallel worlds and the great rifts of the 80’s, Stranger Things is a solid choice, and with enough stories to read, there’s enough here to whet your appetite for season 4.

American horror story
Similarities – tone
American Horror Story is an anthology series that uses the same cast in countless different situations every season. Many fans agree that the second one is the best, but each restaurant offers enough to whet the appetite.
From scary accommodations to fun circuses that are not quite right for you, there is an ever-changing environment that you have to keep busy for a while.
There are also a large number of beautiful costumes and sets that work overtime during the 9 seasons. The series has been extended by three years, so there’s even more to see if you’re a Sabrina fan.
The diary of a vampire
Similarity – Sound and Teen Romanticism
There is something infinitely fascinating about vampires, especially in the category YA. The Vampire Diaries is essentially a follow-up series that refines what Twilight tried (and failed) to do on the big screen.
The plot synopsis is also quite similar, especially because the story revolves around a high school student named Elena. As fate would have it, she captures the heart of Stefan, who happens to be a vampire.
But Stefan’s brother Damon, who is also attracted to Elena, complicates things. Imagine a love triangle and predictable teenage drama. Despite the formula, The Vampire Diaries eventually unite and evolve into what can only be described as a serious abuse of guilty pleasure.
Well done, fast and full of twists, it’s definitely worth a look.
Sabrina Teenage Witch
Agreements – Sabrina, of course!
The one who inspired this remake, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, is a perfect example of the sitcom of the 90s, but does so with clever lyrics, ingenious scripts and really funny moments. It’s all supported by the comic spirit of Sabrina’s clever cat, Salem.
As in Ice Adventures, Sabrina the Teenage Witch revolves around teenage witch Sabrina, who (yes, you guessed it) decorates herself with magical powers while her aunts Zelda and Hilda try to keep her out of trouble.
Although the tone is very different from that of Chilling Adventures, the original sitcom remains a fascinating look at the past that you absolutely must look at.
Salem
Equivalence – Salem and supernatural elements
Based on the witch trials of the same name in the 17th century. Set in the 17th century, Salem is a supernatural drama that explores what set the infamous witch trials of the city in motion at that time. Salem combines fantasy elements with more character-driven drama, and the longer the series, the more it tends towards supernatural elements.
In three seasons, the main plot revolves around a powerful witch named Maria Sibley who controls the witch trials in Salem and wants to summon the devil.
Only his plan gets a big setback when his long lost love, John Alden, returns from the war. With the usual dose of romance and drama, Salem is a simple but well-written character drama.
Angel
Convergence – Eclectic Form and Hell Combat Forces
While Buffy the Vampire Slayer is praised for her intelligent writing, brilliant female characters and remarkable plot, Buffy the Vampire Slayer Angel is perhaps as charming as Buffy.
In fact, Angel sometimes goes deeper into his mythology and ideas than Buffy and presents David Boreanaz as a tortured vampire with a soul.
Angel moves to Los Angeles and is joined by an eclectic group of characters, including Cordelia, who jumps from Buffy to the series. While many will regret the apparent and disappointing staging of the last episode, Angel is just one of the best series of the 90s and a real gem worth watching.

Ugly penny
Agreements – Sound and Mystery
The Penny Dreadful, set in Victoria London, combines bloody horror and mystery in an atmospheric series. The story is essentially about explorer Sir Malcolm Murray, American shooter Ethan Chandler, scientist Victor Frankenstein and clairvoyant Vanessa Ives working together to combat supernatural threats.
It is a simple starting point, but where this show excels is in the plot and acting. Everything about Penny Dreadful exudes charisma, and despite a slow start in the first season, she quickly became a real force in the world of horror.
It is also well produced, with nicely dressed sets and well rounded characters. It’s worth a look.
