Intel Core i7-10875H (8 Core, 10th gen) laptops

Until spring 2020, Intel-based Core i9 configurations were the only 8-core hardware platforms available for a high-performance notebook. However, the i9 configurations were only available in high-end laptops and were expensive. Not anymore.

With the latest hardware upgrades, 8-core/16-wire processors are available in the mid-range and for many more affordable budgets on both AMD (Ryzen 7 4800H/9 4900H and their HS versions) and Intel (Core i7-10875H) platforms. We explored the possibilities of the MDA in separate articles. This article focuses on the Intel i7-10875H notebooks available in stores as a cheaper alternative to the i9-10880H and 10980HK models of the same generation.

To start with, I will simply list the features of this 8-core i7 next to the 6-core i7-10750H alternative, as well as the high-end i9-10980HK alternative on the same Comet Lake platform.

Next, we will briefly discuss the overall value of these i7-10875H configurations, who should benefit from them and whether they are the right choice for you, and finally, we will go over the full list of laptops you can now get with i7-10875H hardware.

Generation equipment

Compared to the 10750H, the 10875H gets 33% more cores and wires and 33% more L3 cache memory. At the same time, it works at lower basic and maxi-turbo rates and costs $55 more.

This means that the 10875H will play out its strengths in multi-threaded processor workloads that can benefit from these additional resources, such as B. Rendering, programming or engineering software, virtual machines, large format data projection and others. At the same time, it is unlikely to make a difference in most modern games, which usually benefit from higher clock speeds and a powerful GPU, and in most cases are not well suited for 8 cores.

However, it is important to remember that the performance of the platform strongly depends on the thermal module and the power distribution in each implementation. This means that not all i7-10875Hs are the same, even though they may look like this on paper, and only detailed tests can tell you if each model performs (or not) and if the 8Core platform makes sense in that chassis.

The i9-10980HK, on the other hand, is an unlockable and overclockable processor, with higher base clock and turbo clock speeds than the 10875H, but at a higher price. Even with a thermal design, the 10980HK models are highly dependent on their increased TDP limit potential, which is necessary to achieve these high operating hours under continuous load. However, we will look at the i9’s in a separate article, both 10980HK and i9-10880H, so we will continue for the time being.

In terms of benchmarks, based on the very limited details available to date, the 10750H is at about the same level as the single-score tests 9750H and 10875H and about 3-5% faster than a good implementation of the 9750H in the multiple-score tests, while in this case the 10875H scores about 10-15% higher than the 10750H. However, as stated above, these figures should be taken with a grain of salt, as the results may vary considerably from one implementation to another.

In future articles we will discuss evaluations and performance expectations as more data becomes available.

i7-10875H core functions

Let’s move on to the available Intel Core i7-10875H models. To make the search easier, we have divided these options into two parts: lightweight and full-size ultrabooks.

In addition, we constantly update the list and add new information when it becomes available, but details are still scarce and scattered. So if you notice any errors or configurations that should be included here and are not, please let us know in the comment section below.

Laptops with Intel i7-10875H (8 cores)

In this section you will find a list of light and compact notebooks that can be configured with an 8Core Core i7 mobile processor. It is especially important to check if the cooling system and all hardware can handle the power and temperature of the i7-10875H and if it is worth paying for this option, as most of these options are also available with the 6-core 10750H at a lower price.

I would also like to add that some of the available ultraportables do not have an i7-10875H configuration, only 10750H and i9-9880H/HK. They are not included here and are not covered by this separate article.
